Tim Steeves

Tim is one of Canada’s top comedic talents, both as a stand up and comedy writer.  He has written on two of Canada’s longest running comedy series – five seasons on This Hour Has 22 Minutes (CBC), and all 15  seasons on The Rick Mercer Report (CBC).  Tim was one of the creators of the top Canadian comedy special in Canadian history “Talking to American’s” starring Rick Mercer.  Between the two shows, Tim has won four Gemini Awards and three Canadian Screen Awards for best comedic writing.  As well as numerous Writers’ Guild Awards, Canadian Comedy Awards and an International Emmy Award nomination.   Tim has had many projects in development including The Tim Steeves Show with Bell Media, where he was the show runner and executive producer.  Tim’s comedy specials include, Comedy Now (CTV and The Comedy Network) and Comics! (CBC), for which he was nominated for a Gemini Award. Four gala performances at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. Many Canadians know Tim from his TV work, as a co-star on The Bette Show (CBC) and as the host of the sports trivia show Game On (Global) and the raucous male chat show Real Men (Global). Martha Chaves

Martha Chaves is a Nicaraguan-Canadian award-winning comedian, actor, activist, and playwright. She is a regular in the comedy circuits in North America and Latin America. She has performed multiple times at The Just For Laughs Festival, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Halifax Comedy Festival, Laugh out Loud, and The Debaters on CBC Radio; she's a regular panelist on CBC's "Because News," also on CBC radio. Her one-person show, "In Times of Trouble," was featured in CAMINOS at the ALUNA Theatre Festival (Toronto) in the SOULO Festival (Toronto) and in SOLOCOM, NYC. In 2015, 2016, and 2017 respectively. She has numerous TV appearances, like her Just For Laughs, and Winnipeg Comedy Festival Galas. She has had some small roles in major Hollywood movies, like John Q. with Denzel Washington. Martha was voted Stand-up Comic of the Year at the 2018 Canadian Comedy Awards. Her debut comedy album, "Chunky Salsa," was featured among the 11 best comedy albums of 2019, according to Interrobang Magazine. She is also a fierce human rights advocate, using humour to challenge the status quo in four different languages. She's the host of The Nobel Women's Initiative podcast, "When Feminists Rule The World.” She also happens to be funny as hell. View Full Bio

Pete Johansson

Pete Johansson has earned the title of global headlining comic with a relentless non stop schedule taking him to every corner of the globe. His unique socially progressive, intellectually challenging, yet accessible and silly comedy has garnered a devoted following of fans looking for laughs with something more. This profile was recently bolstered with his very well reviewed (chortle.co.uk) first comedy special 'You might also enjoy...Pete Johansson' released by Netflix simultaneously in 82 countries and a critically acclaimed and powerful appearance on Comedy Central’s ‘This is Not Happening’. A favourite at comedy festivals, Pete is one of only three Canadians ever nominated for an Edinburgh award at the Edinburgh Fringe, and has been invited to perform from South Africa to Australia to Singapore. Originally from Kelowna, Pete started performing in his teens, and developed his art from coast to coast in Canada making his first appearance at The Just For Laughs festival when he was only 24 and following that up with 6 more appearances at the festival over his 20 year career, including 4 galas taped for the CBC. Numerous other TV appearances fill his resume, from The Late Late Show on CBS, Premium Blend on Comedy Central, Friday Night on NBC, Russell Howard's Good News on BBC, The Best of the Fest on Channel 4, Live From the Comedy Store on Comedy Central, Russell Peters Red Light District on Showtime, 2 Episodes of ‘The Debaters’ TV show on CBC, one of which was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award, and three Winnipeg Comedy festival Gala’s. Eman El-Husseini

Since her comedy debut in 2006 Eman El-Husseini has racked up an impressive list of credits. Travelling across Canada, the U.S and the Middle East she covers a wide range of topics, from how lesbians are the new gentlemen to her parents’ wedding anniversary landing on, you guessed it, September 11th.

A media darling of sorts, Eman has been featured in major Canadian newspapers such as The National Post, The Toronto Star and The Montreal Gazette. She has also appeared regularly on radio stations such as CJAD, CBC, and CKUT. Her TV credits include a half hour comedy special on CTV, Comedy Network and the iChannel. View Full Bio
